Travelling by Artesia means no airport queues, no lengthy check-in and the big bonus of city-centre to city-centre travel. Artesia is the fastest rail connection between France and Italy and provide both daytime and overnight rail travel options.
Artesia rail services are a joint venture between French Railways (SNCF) and Italian Railways (Trenitalia).
You can travel overnight from Paris or Dijon to most Italian destinations including Piacenza, Parma, Brescia, Vicenza, Padova, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Rome, Novara, Turin, Venice and Verona. You may want to add a Eurostar service from London to Paris and you can then travel by rail right through from London to Rome and vice versa!
Daytime TGV-type rail services are also available from Paris, Chambery and Lyon to Turin and Milan, in 1st and 2nd class travel.
Artesia overnight services depart from Paris Bercy or Dijon stations in France, and arrive at Milano (Milan) Centrale, Torino (Turin) PN, Venezia (Venice) Santa Lucia, Firenze (Florence) SMN and Roma (Rome) Termini stations in Italy. They also stop at less known Italian destinations like Brescia, Verona, Vicenza, Padova, Novara, Piacenza, Parma and Bologna.
All Artesia overnight services have a Restaurant car, however the cost of your meal is not included in the ticket price and must be paid for in the Restaurant.
Ticket types. Tickets are available for Adult (26-59 years of age), Under 26 (12-25) and Child (4-11). The booking engine at the bottom of this page will always quote the lowest available price to you, taking into account any early booking discounts which may be available.
Overnight Service.
Single Sleeper cabin - for one person, the cabin has a wash basin with hot and cold water, a single bed, mirror and drinking water bottles. Toilet and WC are located at each end of the carriage.
Double Sleeper cabin (see photo above) - for two persons, this cabin has 2 single beds, one at lower level and one at the upper level, wash basin with hot and cold water, mirror and drinking water bottles. Toilet and WC are located at each end of the carriage.
Triple Sleeper cabin - for three people, the cabin has 3 single beds, at lower, middle and upper level, wash basin with hot and cold water. mirror and drinking water bottles. Toilet and WC are located at each end of the carriage.
4-Berth Couchette cabin (see photo above) - for four people, the cabin has 4 bunk beds, 2 on each side of the cabin. Toilet and WC are located at each end of the carriage.
6-Berth Couchette cabin - for six people, the cabin has 6 bunk beds, 3 on each side of the cabin, basic but cheap for the money-conscious rail traveller. Toilet and WC are located at each end of the carriage.
Reservation
Reservations on Artesia services are possible 90 days before your travel date, so if you are after the cheapest price book early and you should get it!
You can make your own reservation using the live booking engine at the bottom of this page, and tickets will be posted to your home address.
